Barry Dearle - Saskatoon, SK, CANADA

Travel with us to Saskatoon, Sasketchewan in the heart of the prairies of Canada. Here we will delve into the love, the dream, and the passion that has led to the successes of Barry Dearle's Alli~Barr Arabians

Barry's love affair with horses began in childhood. As he states, "My love for horses goes back as far as I can remember. As a young boy growing up I felt privileged to have half-Arabian horses and dreamed of the day I would own a purebred Arabian. That dream came true when I was able to acquire my beautiful gelding, Alli-Barr. Alli-Barr remained with me throughout his life and was a true soul mate and became the namesake for the farm.

It wasn’t long before the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse caught my eye. I was taken in by their beauty and charisma. Setting out to learn more about the breeding programs of other farms, I learned there was a common link to every successful farm - great foundation broodmares. I’ve always admired the Imperial Egyptian Stud and Kehilan Arabians breeding programs. I was exceptionally fortunate to acquire several beautiful mares; Glorious KA, Imperial Kismetah, Imperial Karmah, Safaara and LS Zeynah. Over time, these wonderful mares have blessed me with exceptional foals that have shown very well and have moved on to enhance other breeding programs throughout the world, in countries such as the USA, Germany, Egypt, Israel, Qatar, and New Zealand.

My family has been very supportive of the farm and the goals we strive to achieve. All foals born at Alli-Barr Arabians bare the initials BJ in their name. This is in honor of my late wife Bonnie Jean who shared, with me, the dream to “Ride Like the Wind.”

At the time I purchased my first Straight Egyptian mare in 2006, I became a member of the Pyramid Society and remain an involved member still today. Through the years I have met many fellow breeders from all over the world and enjoy seeing everyone at our beloved Egyptian Event. Along with the joys of participating at the Event, I also had the pleasure of chairing the Jewels of the Nile sale for several consecutive years.

Each year I look forward to convening in Kentucky to greet friends from far and wide and to “talk horses” and strategize on how each of us are going to breed the next great “Egyptian Event Gold Champion”.

– I’m looking forward to seeing each of you in June!!
