Member Spotlight: Rich & Christen Benat of Arabian Partners, LLC in Allen, TX.

Since first being introduced to Egyptian Arabians in 2007, Rich and Christen Benat of Arabian Partners LLC have been building a boutique herd of quality horses expanding on classic and dynamic bloodlines of the breed. After attending a newcomers’ seminar at Arabians Limited where Christen was “chosen” by a special filly named Bassira, sired by Mishaal HP, they were expertly guided by Shawn Crews and her team into the horse business.

Bassira, an excellent show horse in her own right, has been a super producer. Her first filly, Besada de Desperado by Thee Desperado, has been a multiple top 5 EE winner, first place amateur to handle at the EE 2012, reserve grand champion at the Katy Christmas Show 2012 and shown to a top ten finish at Scottsdale in 2013 by Bryan Jeffries. In 2015, Christen showed Bassira’s yearling filly, Bellatrix AP by Deffiance, to a 5th place in the EBC class. Bassira’s 2015 colt, Bacchus AP by LF AL Saher, is competing in the Straight Egyptian classes in Scottsdale with Bryan Jeffries and in the futurity classes at the EE 2016.

In 2009, the Benats purchased a young Laheeb IASB daughter with the intention of incorporating more quality bloodlines to their small breeding program. At first sight, it was obvious that Laziza bint Laheeb AP, had all the physical features and movement of a champion with the heart and spirit to complete the package. She too, has been shown to multiple top five finishes and most recently to reserve champion, ATH, by Rich, and to first place in the senior mare class by Bryan Jeffries at the 2015 EE. Laziza will take time off this year to deliver an eagerly awaited foal by Baha AA.

Not only have they been building their herd, but Rich and Christen have also designed and are building a new home and equestrian facility just north east of Dallas in Celeste, Texas. They affectionately call it “The Circle B” and are eager to have friends, old and new, come for a visit and spend time with their wonderful horses. The Benats also look forward to a continued collaboration with Bryan and Melinda Jeffries of Jeffries Arabian Center who have done a fantastic job training and caring for their horses.

Christen shares, “We have loved being part of the competition and camaraderie at the Egyptian Event and look forward to it every year!”
