EGYPTIAN BREEDERS’ CHALLENGE (EBC) UPDATE

Wednesday, September 16, 2020 - 8:00am

Combined prize money of over $100,000 for 2020/2021!

As all of you are aware, the Covid-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of this year’s Egyptian Event, with the result that eligible EBC and Futurity entrants who were unable to compete this year will do so in 2021.   Earlier in the year The Pyramid Society committed to informing the owners of eligible horses when the competition would be held so that they would have sufficient time to prepare their entries.  Subsequently the Society surveyed EBC participants with eligible entrants to determine their preference regarding where the classes will be held in 2021.   As a result of these discussions, we are pleased to announce that The Pyramid Society’s respective EBC and Futurity classes will be held in conjunction with the East Coast Championships in late summer 2021, reflecting the wishes of the majority of participants we contacted.   While Scottsdale and Region XII were also contenders, there were still strong concerns about travel and spectator participation, particularly in February.   However, please note that this decision is for 2021 only and does not mean that alternate locations for the classes will not be seriously considered for future years.    Because of the challenging conditions that have led to the cancellation of so many beloved events, the difficult decision was also made to not hold the EBC stallion auction in 2020.  Thank you to all who participate in this program, and remember your support has ensured combined prize monies of more than $100,000 for the four 2020/2021 EBC classes!
