FIRST TIME EGYPTIAN EVENT EXHIBITOR
Leslie Nord of Royal Shahara Arabians in Spokane, WA reflects on showing her horse for the very first time at this year's Egyptian Event. Leslie certainly testifies to the fact that it's never to late to try something for the first time and the Egyptian Event
is just the place to do it at!
In her own words:
"I was very apprehensive at first at the thought of showing at the Event, let alone one of my own horse that I had bred. Through the encouragement of my trainers Cheryl and Karl Balmer and my good friends Judith Forbis, Steve Diamond and Lisa and Stephen Zukowski I decided to give it a try. It was quite amusing to those in the audience as they watched me almost get knocked over a couple of times . Remarkably I stayed on my feet thank goodness. I showed my beautiful 2 year old Laheeb GASB daughter in the Fillies 2 & under AATH class. The class was quite large with 25 beautiful fillies competing against us. It was definitely the blind leading the blind seeing how my filly is in Texas and I am in Washington. We had two crash courses two days before the class that consisted of 20 minutes each. The first day of practicing was a disaster, to say the least. I didn't exactly know what to do and the horse didn't know what I wanted of her. In the end I was very fortunate to have received a Top Ten in my very first class. Needless to say I had so much fun and now have the bug even though I'm probably a little too old to begin this, I think I'll do it again next year. Thank you all for being so supportive in the audience . I feel blessed as I think I had a little help from my Angel Weston above that night and he let me know he was there with me all the way with all the thunder and lighting and the tears from Heaven. I still look back and think what was I thinking, but woudn't of traded the experience for anything. I had so much fun and everyone in the crowd was so supportive I really think I will give it a try again next year and hopefully the second time around I will be a little wiser and, maybe even look like I know what I'm doing. Nevertheless I had a great time thanks to all of the support from all of you of the Pyramid Society".
