By now most of us know that modern scientific technology can be incorporated into a breeding program in order to maximize reproductive efficiency and to allow the flexibility necessary to achieve one's goal in producing quality foals. But the pace of change is dazzling. What we understood yesterday is out-of-date today. In the preservation and perpetuation of the Arabian horse, we understand that we cannot permit ourselves to lag behind. The future of the Arabian horse depends on our constant, vigilant attention to its reproductive soundness. This in brief is the reason for the Third Annual National Breeders’ Conference, organized by The Pyramid Society in cooperation with the Pyramid Foundation, Inc. Designed with the serious breeder in mind…at whatever level of experience… this conference, highlighting advances in reproductive technology and genetics, brings together a stellar faculty for an intensive three-day event in Lexington, KY. The conference will be an altogether lively learning experience. The content is as comprehensive as it is practical. At the close of the conference, the participants will understand: • The meaning of strains and families in Arabian breeding • Key concepts in equine genetics • Cutting-edge techniques for the reproductive efficiency of mares, • Strategies for care and breeding the problem mare • Stallion management, including sperm production and output, semen collection and shipment, and the handling of a sub-fertile or problem stallion • Care of the late-term pregnant mare; foaling and care of the newborn foal. • Basic concepts of immunogenetics and genomics • Applications of cytogenetics in equine breeding programs For both the serious and new breeder of Egyptian Arabian horses, the National Breeders Conference is without equal. Scheduled annually at locations across North America, the conference brings together equine historians, scientists, marketing and promotion professionals and noted breeders for an exciting weekend of lectures, discussion and hands-on practical experience. Registration is open to members and non-members alike. |
