About Us

The Pyramid Society was created in 1969, by a small group of American Arabian horse breeders passionately concerned about preserving and perpetuating the vanishing bloodlines of the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse, the world's pre-eminent, living source of classic, desert Arabian blood.

Today, The Pyramid Society and its international membership pursue, with renewed dedication, that original mission: the preservation, perpetuation and promotion of the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse. While not a breed registry, in the 40 years since its founding, The Pyramid Society has become one of the most highly esteemed Arabian breeders' organizations in the world. Its members' steadfast commitment and enthusiastic participation in Society programs and projects are the envy of breeders' organizations everywhere. A year after its founding, The Society's membership roster held 28 regular members. In 2009, annual memberships exceed 500, and their influence is worldwide.

The Egyptian Event, crown jewel in Pyramid Society endeavors, is a gathering like no other. This year's Event will take place June 1-6, 2009, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The Event is The Society's annual showcase of Egyptian Arabians, and will feature the finest Egyptian Arabians from five continents, competing for substantial prize monies and prestigious awards. The Egyptian Event has grown from just 10 classes in 1981, to 68 halter and performance classes today, and Egyptian Event futurities have paid out more than $6,000,000. The innovative Egyptian Breeders’ Challenge paid out $10,000 in 1996, its first year. The 2009 EBC will offer participants more than $90,000.

Fellowship and camaraderie are signature elements of every Pyramid Society effort, and the Egyptian Event has become the flagship of the Society's unmatched hospitality. Visitors will find the Egyptian Arabian horses, and the welcome there, truly irresistible.

2009 marks The Pyramid Society’s 40th Anniversary.  The Society’s success story is a direct reflection of the ongoing dedication and support of its members. And in return, The Society strives to provide relevant and valuable benefits and programs for all members, regardless of their level of participation. Whether it’s first-class marketing materials, exceptional educational opportunities, or visibility on the web, providing opportunities to showcae or sell your horses, The Pyramid Society is there for you.

Please review the numerous benefits and programs and take advantage of them!

As attested by one member, “The Pyramid Society stands alone and promotes the Egyptian Arabian horse for ALL OF US!” With your continued help, we look forward to serving you for the next 40 years!
