Twelve Oaks Arabians - Larry and Carolyn Shelton, October Member Spotlight

Larry and Carolyn Shelton founded Twelve Oaks Arabians in 1991. After meeting some successful Egyptian breeders and having the opportunity to study and admire the Egyptian Arabians in person, they quickly purchased some acreage in Richmond, Texas and set out to stock their own broodmare band.

"We were intrigued with the ancient history associated with these Egyptian horses, and that, coupled with the prospect of becoming breeders of such a rare and astonishingly captivating animal, spurred us to seek out competent and trustworthy mentors and advisors. We have since been fortunate that the top quality Egyptian mares we selected as our broodmares, and the choices of National Champion stallions we selected to breed to have resulted in show winning babies time and time again. Now our program extends from Saudi Arabia to three European countries, as well as across the United States and Canada, even though we still manage a very small band of broodmares.  We are enjoying seeing our horses become champions in their own rights for their new owners, and now the grandbabies are starting to appear in the show arena as well.  What fun is that!
