The Pyramid Society Welcomes the IAHC involvement at 2010 Egyptian Event

The Indiana Arabian Horse Club (IAHC) was founded 75 years ago by a group of Arabian horse breeders and owners whose vision of the future for their beloved breed benefits today's owners and breeders throughout the state.  Over the years, IAHC has grown into Indiana's largest Arabian horse club offering members a wide variety of activities.

As IAHC's Youth Group began this new decade, they came to recognize their blessings when compared to others.  In an effort to reach out to those less fortunate, the Youth Group decided to use their mascot, WRA Summers Kiss, a straight Egyptian mare who was rescued from certain death by severe neglect several years ago.  Summer's owner, Mary Weeks, made the mare available for children who, although interested, were unable to participate in horse shows.  Throughout 2009, Summer attended both Class A Arabian and open horse shows, enabling her various handlers the opportunity to compete.  Summer's youth handlers even garnered some very impressive wins including:

  • Top 10 Arabian Mares Jr. to Handle at the prestigious Egyptian Event in Lexington, KY,
  • Top 5 in Region 13 Open Mares, and
  • Top 10 Open Arabian Sport Horse Mares at the US National Championship Arabian Sport Horse Show.

Once the Youth Club reviewed their successes in 2009, they began to plan for 2010.  These children recognized that because of the growing crisis with the national economy, the local communities in which they compete were struggling to meet the needs of those citizens who were suffering as a result of losses due to the economic downturn.  From this realization grew, Hoof to Hands.

Beginning with the 2010 Indiana Horse Council's Hoosier Horse Fair, IAHC's Youth Group will begin collecting canned food, horse feed and donations from the public in an effort to bring some relief, not only to the human community but also to the "equine" community.  Using their rescued equine friend "Summer" as their partner, these wonderful children will be collecting and donating canned goods to food banks and horse feed to rescue organizations in the local communities throughout the Midwest where they compete.  Look for the IAHC's Tent at the Horse Fair and bring your donations!

You will find IAHC Youth Group's hospitality tent at the following events:

  • Indiana All Arabian Horse Show in Cloverdale, IN,
  • the ISHA Spring Show in Edinburg, IN,
  • the Egyptian Event in Lexington, KY,
  • Region 13 Sport Horse Championships in Edinburg, IN;
  • Region 13 Open Championships in Indianapolis, IN; and
  • Various other horse-related activities throughout the Midwest.

Please help our children help others by bringing your donations (horse or human) along with you.

The IAHC Youth Group invites you and your organizations to the Indiana Arabian Horse Club hospitality booth as a location not only to drop off your donations but also to participate in their drawings for free door prizes and raffles!

IAHC thanks you for your support!
