The Lynnbrook Celebration
by Lisa Abraham
On Febuary 28, Lisa Abraham, of Lisa Abraham Photography, and Danny and Deneb Thompson, of Lynnbrook Stables, put on the "Lynnbrook Celebration". The event attracted participants from all over the south and was a smashing success! This one day event began with a light snack and a meet and greet. We were then presented several stallions, featuring primarily, the young SE Kenz Noor son, owned by Mario & Sandy Colangelo and family, Jaleel ABC.
Jaleel ABC is one of only a few Kenz Noor sons and being out of Zahara Shariah, an Ansata Omar Halim daughter, has a pedigree filled with some the greatest mares and stallions in our rare breed who have profoundly contributed to the preservation of precious bloodlines. However, Jaleel ABC is far more than paper, he has the goods as well.
When April Colangelo ran in with Jaleel on her lead, the arena went first silent and then wild. Jaleel is a big, dappled grey stallion with both strength, movement and elegance. He stands nearly 16 hands tall, with a beautiful top line. He has a gorgeous, typy face with an unbelievable neck that extends straight out of his withers. Truly the length and beauty of his neck alone sets him apart from nearly everyone. Also presented were SE stallions, the late Richters Shahpnz (Richter MF X Rafalaa) and SEL Marzuq (Alfano Mystall X EAI Hasimmah) .
In our industry, education is essential. So after the stallion presentation, the group headed over to Danny and Deneb's home for a Middle Eastern feast and some clinic time. Mario Colangelo and family, of Star View Farm, were asked to lead a discussion on some of the philosophies they have developed as small successful breeders in this county. As breeders who have been involved in both the SE world and the pure bred world, and as breeders who have cultivated their own path, their perspectives were unique and invaluable to many of the young breeders in attendence. Thank you Mario, Sandy and family for sharing your experiences with us! Danny himself, then took over with an in-depth lesson on show clipping.
The "Lynnbrook Celebration" was such a success that requests were made for another one. So plans have been tenatively made for another such clinic sometime in the fall. However, this next one will probably stretch into a two day event, as has also been requested. One person whom must be mentioned is Deneb Thompson's mother, Lana Chaffin. Thank you Lana for all of your hard work and for all of your special, little touches that added to making this event memorable. It would not have been the same without you--sincere and profound thanks!
