The Black Stallion Literacy Foundation in Kentucky!
From Mollie Jameson, BSLP Director, Kentucky Horse Park:
The Black Stallion Literacy Foundation is now well under way in Kentucky, and both students and teachers are having a great time! Just to show you how successful their program is, below is a wonderful letter from a staff member at Booker T. Washington Academy in Lexington, Kentucky:
"The First Grade classes had a BLAST at the Little Black program today! I’d like to send out THANKS to all who made it possible. The students had a fabulous time talking with the Rolex Riders. They absolutely loved getting the opportunity to pet Little Black and Big Red. They each were given the book Little Black, A Pony, by Walter Farley. It was great to see them interact with all the wonderful volunteers who came.
The students made BTWA proud today with their excellent behavior and undivided attention. Each teacher, para, and student received 2 tickets to this Friday’s Rolex Event! WOW!
A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Thakur for bringing this wonderful experience to our first graders.
Staff, look for coverage of our program on Channel 13, FCPS website, and The Lexington Herald Leader! The pictures of our students are going to be adorable.
We are looking forward to our trip to the Kentucky Horse Park next month.
Thanks Again for such an exciting day!!!!"
An excellent article regarding their work can also be found on Fayette County (KY) School's It's About Kids website.
