Remembering Patrick Swayze
This September the Arabian horse community suffered a great loss with the passing of long-time horseman and Egyptian Arabian enthusiast, Patrick Swayze. Patrick was a treasured figure in the Arabian community, loved by everyone who had the pleasure of his company.

The Pyramid Society published Moments in Time: Articles from The Pyramid Society's Archives Volume II earlier this year, which included an article entitled Lives and Times: Patrick Swayze by Deb Bentley. This lovely piece includes an interview with Patrick and his wife Lisa, describing their great love and enthusiasm for the Egyptian Arabian.

Kara Crowell
KC Egyptian Arabians
Kara Crowell's involvement with the Egyptian Arabian horse began back in 1983 when her parents purchased the Egyptian Prince son, Imperial Salateen, who was out of the beautiful Nazeer daughter, Azzar. "We had never seen such a beautiful, refined and stoic animal. That was the beginning. We knew that there was no other horse like the Egyptian Arabian horse", Kara describes.
Kara attended her first Egyptian Event in 1998 and the next year became a member of The Pyramid Society. Kara remembers the first year she attended the Event, "That was when I realized that this was the path I must follow. My mom (JoAnn Weisman), and I have attended every Egyptian Event since that time, with the exception of one year, when we had an orphan colt to care for!"
"Belonging to The Pyramid Society has been a true gift to me. I have met so many friends, and learned so much from the people associated with this organization. There is never a day that I call The Pyramid Society and they have not helped me. I am amazed at the educational opportunities that The Society offers. The history of the Egyptian Arabian horse is now safe, thanks to all thsoe who donate their time and funds to this organization. I cannot think of a more dedicated group of individuals."
Currently, KC Egyptians stands the El Hilal son, VP Regal Heir. "He is our pride and joy, and each day is blessed with him here. We have exciting news to announce this month; Abraxas Arabians has entrusted our farm in managing their magnificent stallions, Abraxas Moonstruck and HS Hero! They will be joining us here at the farm the first of October. Both stallions are the epitome of what we treasure here at the farm. I am proud that Debbie Nowak of Abraxas Arabians has entrusted me with their care, and to represent their pedigrees to the Egyptian Arabian community. These stallions will be available to the public in 2010."
Kara is also very proud of a new laboratory added to the farm recently, which allows KC Egyptian Arabians to not only ship cooled semen, but has added the additional equipment to freeze all of their stallions as well. "This was a big project this year, but with the rare pedigrees of the stallions we have, we felt this was the only choice. The ability to freeze the stallions ourselves, enables us to preserve the precious bloodlines of the past. To be able to control the environment also gives us a better opportunity to freeze with the highest results possible."
"Our goal at KC Egyptian Arabians is to preserve the oldest bloodlines, and bring the best of the best of those horses into the future. With careful study and educate decisions, we believe we have made available some of the best stallions in the world."
