Patrick Swayze Passes Away

Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into viewers’ hearts with “Dirty Dancing” and then broke them with “Ghost,” died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were given.

Those involved in the Arabian community knew Patrick as not just a movie star, but also as a horseman. Beginning at a very young age, beginning with a visit to Gleannloch Farms, Patrick has cherished the Egyptian Arabian. He contributed a great number of horses to the breed over the years, but none so recognizable as Tammen (Abenhetep x Talgana). Tammen was equally successful in the showring as he was in the breeding barn. Patrick was respected and loved by many throughout the Arabian horse world. The Pyramid Society wishes to extend its deepest sympathy and condolences to his loving wife Lisa.
