November Member Spotlight

For our November Member Spotlight, we take a trip to Cove, Arkansas to visit Blu Farms Egyptian Arabians. Blu Farms found its beginning in 1980 when Mike Albertini and Tom Patterson established a breeding program with Egyptian-sired horses. Not long after, Mike and Tom turned their focus to the Straight Egyptian horse with their first foundation mare, Ansata Diana (Ansata Ibn Sudan x Mossa RSI). Today, Blu Farms Egyptian Arabians offers 62 years of experience in breeding, raising and showing Straight Egyptian horses that are true to type, strong in pedigree and competitive internationally.

Mike recounts, “Blu Farms’ greatest accomplishments began with our very first Straight Egyptian colt born on the farm, Blu Epic (Ansata Halim Shah x Ansata Diana), who as a yearling acquired his first title as Reserve Futurity Champion Yearling Colt at The Egyptian Event in 1989. Later, his full sister, Endow Blu, gained her first championships in Europe, followed by another sister, Sarafina Blu (The Minstril x Ansata Diana), who began her championship career in Europe, as well.” Blu Farms focus on champion Straight Egyptians began and continues today with the use of the Ansata bloodlines. “All of our horses carry the blood from the best Ansata had to offer,” says Mike.

Further commenting on their connection to the Straight Egyptian Arabain community, Mike states, “having Straight Egyptians led us to our involvement with The Pyramid Society. We are pleased to have the opportunity to utilize this great organization as we feel it provides a source of camaraderie and education, and we feel it is a great vehicle for the promotion of the Straight Egyptian Arabian across the globe. Winston Churchill once said, “If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it,” and we feel the Pyramid Society offers that knowledge.”

After many years of dedication and commitment to some of the best breeding programs in the country, Blu Farms has evolved into a small but substantial breeding farm. “We are looking forward to the upcoming foaling season with our first foals arriving early spring by Zandai Nile Amr (pictured here), and we invite your interest. After all, the next best thing to knowing something is knowing where to find it!”
