Memorial Service for Beverly Sziraky
Beverly Sziraky, 72, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 in her home. The memorial service will be Saturday, August 1 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova. She was born October 30, 1937, to Milton and Marjorie Meyer in Wellington, New Zealand. She attended boarding school and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Animal Husbandry. She was the owner and operator of Deer Run Farm, a successful Arabian breeding farm, located in Mineral, VA, from 1963-1974 and Moscow Tennessee from 1975-1978. From 1993 until 2008, she held the position of manager at Imperial Egyptian Stud in Parkton, MD. During over a half century as a professional horseman, Beverly has trained and shown Arabians, Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Morgans and Warmbloods to many championships and other awards in the United States and abroad. She was an FEI Level Dressage rider and has competed on the Florida Circuit at Prix St. George with her Hanoverian stallion. She is survived by her son, Andrew Sziraky and his wife, Kelly Sziraky, Cordova; her daughter, Valerie Schranz and her husband, Thomas Schranz, Cordova; five grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Harris, Dallas; brothers, Alan Meyer, Portland, and Marc Meyer, Naples.
