Member Spotlight: Dick & Diane Malone – Twin Fiddles Ranch
Twin Fiddles Ranch is located in Alvarado, Texas on 40 secluded acres of coastal grass and sandy soil with pecan trees and a slowly meandering creek, but most importantly, it is home to some truly magnificent Straight Egyptian Arabians. Diane and Dick Malone have always loved horses, and as quickly as they met the Egyptian Arabian some 20 years ago, they were hooked.
‘Keep it pure, keep it classic,’ is their breeding philosophy, and it has been carefully expressed.
“We mainly concentrate on the rare tail female line of Bint El Bahreyn through Zareefa, the dam of Maisa by Shahloul and Elwya by Sid Abouhom,” says Diane. “We are pleased with the cross between our stallion Masree KA (Ansata Hejazi X KA Namirah X Nabiel) and our mare Moniet El Soheir (MB Mistaz X Bint Bint Soheir X *Ibn Moniet El Nefous); they have produced two beautiful fillies that are part of our Elwya line, TFR Aliah and TFR Mona El Soheir.” Their third foal on the way this May. “We are also expecting our first foal from TFR Katyahna (Makhnificent KA X Bint Katyah X Ansata Hejazi) sired by Masree KA. This foal will be part of our Maisa line.”
Diane and Dick are longtime members of The Pyramid Society. Diane recalls the thrill of seeing Imperial Imdal at the Event when Witt Byers rode him bareback after the Stallion Showcase. “Seeing Imperial Barez and attending the first Breeder’s Conference at the Imperial Egyptian Stud were also amazing experiences,” she says.
Before purchasing their first Egyptian Arabian, the Malones invested time in researching the breed, visiting farms, talking with breeders and meeting horses. Diane is an avid reader of the history of the breed, as well as a devoted student of pedigrees. “We value our membership in the Pyramid Society,” she says. “We have met the nicest, most knowledgeable and helpful people at the Events, and it is wonderful to be surrounded by others who share our passion for the Straight Egyptian Arabian.”
