Mark and Deb Burke, owners of Amethyst Acres Equine Center, provide a complete range of breeding services for mares and stallions, including phantom training, semen collection and evaluation, semen cooling and freezing, frozen semen storage and artificial insemination. They also offer 24-hour foal watch and assisted foaling, as well as boarding, training and marketing services. Now in its tenth year, Amethyst Acres is a 34-stall facility, located on 47 acres in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Southwest Virginia, thirty minutes south of the Lexington Virginia Horse Center. While they provide services for all breeds of horses, their personal passion is for the Straight Egyptian Arabian.

Mark began his love of Straight Egyptians when he took his first job at Glorieta Ranch at the age of 10, and he has worked with Arabians his entire career.  After they were married in 1996, Mark and Deb moved to Waco, Texas where Mark was the Breeding Manager at Arabians Ltd. for two years.  They returned to Virginia to open Amethyst Acres in 1999 and now work closely with Arabians Ltd., hosting several Educational Conferences each year to introduce newcomers to this beautiful and rare breed.

Since joining The Pyramid Society in 2002, Mark and Deb have been regulars at the Egyptian Event and look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones each year.  They are anxiously awaiting the birth of their first EBC foal this month by Thee Infidel.
