Kalkata Stakes

You Are Invited to the 2011 Egyptian Event
KALKATA STAKES

At the 2011 Egyptian Event, The Pyramid Society will once again offer the exciting "Kalkata Stakes" Program.

This program offers members of the audience and Arabian horse owners alike the chance to compete in center ring - even if they haven't brought a horse to show at the 2011 Egyptian Event!  Plus, it will focus excitement and attention on the two-year old Straight Egyptian Colts and Fillies as they compete in their Futurity classes.

And again in 2011, the elimination of the preliminaries in each of the two-year-old Straight Egyptian Futurity classes adds further excitement to the Kalkata program!

We encourage all of you who plan to attend the 2011 Egyptian Event to participate in this exciting program!  Click on the link below to learn more about it and how you may join in the fun as well as compete for some very real financial rewards!

HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

A "Calcutta" is a type of open auction which originated in Calcutta, India (originally named Kalikata), and was first recorded by Colonial residents of India during the British Raj.  A Calcutta allows individuals (or groups of interested parties) to bid among themselves and "buy" a favorite contestant or entry for a particular event (such as a golf tournament or horse race).  Each contestant is assigned to the highest bidder-and then pays out to the "bidder owner" a predetermined portion of the total pool, depending on how well it performs at the event.
