JOSEPH AND GAIL MAILLOUX TWO SILOS FARM EYGPTIAN ARABIANS ROGERSVILLE, MISSOURI USA When Joseph and Gail began dating in 1983, Gail took Joe out to meet her Arabian gelding, Surabaye. She told him "You need to know something about me; this will not go away." In 2009 they passed two milestones, they celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, and laid Surabaye to rest at age twenty nine. The Mailloux's history with Egyptian horses goes back to the 1970's when Gail showed in performance for a breeder. Gail describes her early experiences, "I was lucky enough to see some of the greats of that era and I never forgot them." Years later when they moved to Missouri and bought a farm in 1997, Gail was finally able to do what she had always wanted to do, breed Egyptian Arabian horses. They began with the beautiful, steel-grey runway model, Savannah CC. Other mare acquisitions followed, some of contemporary Egyptian breeding, some of older established lines, but each chosen for a particular look; beautiful face, big-bodied, strong-hipped. They took some breeding risks along the way when choosing to use outside stallions, but it paid off in the long run. Two Silos Farm-bred foals are now making their mark overseas in places such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. A recent trip to Belgium catapulted Joseph and Gail into a whole new life. While watching the stallion showcase at the Egyptian Event Europe, the Gleannloch-bred, International icon Hadidi blew into the ring. That classic look some thought was lost forever was standing right there in front of them. There was no question what they would do; Hadidi arrived at Two Silos in early 2009. The first of the foals are due beginning in March. Gail explains their relationship to The Pyramid Society by stating, "We would never have experienced the successes we have had without our affiliation with The Pyramid Society. Attending the Egyptian Event each June has given us the opportunity to learn so much and meet many great people. We have been lucky enough to have bred a Futurity winner and have formed friendships through The Society that continue to this day. Never was this more evident than at a gathering we hosted this fall to re-introduce Hadidi in the US. We were blessed by many friends who made the trip to support us and by some very special individuals who released their most treasured mares to us to be bredto Hadidi. Truly the original spirit intended in the founding of The Pyramid Society was felt that day."
