In Memory of Donna Gogal

Donna M. Double Gogal, 55, of Dallas Georgia, formerly of Chicora, died Friday afternoon, July 24, 2009 in Cozumel, Mexico, from injuries she sustained in a vehicle accident while vacationing with her husband, Andrew.

Donna was born on June 28, 1954 in Butler. She was the daughter of Donald A. and Catherine V. Kolich Double of Chicora.

She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. A 1972 graduate of Karns City High School, Donna earned a B.S. from Geneva College in 1994.

She was currently employed as a Senior Recruiter Human Resources - Staffing for Con-Agra Foods in Omaha, Nebraska. She had previously been employed by A.K. Steel and Butler Memorial Hospital.

Donna was an avid animal lover, and especially loved her horses and dogs. She and her husband owned, showed, and bred Egyptian Arabians. One of those horses was featured in an exclusive article in "Egyptian Arabian Horse World". She was also the proud owner of a rescued greyhound. She was a member of The Pyramid Society, USEF, Arabian Horse Association, and Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship. She was an artist who enjoyed painting for her family and friends. Donna was an avid reader who enjoyed planting and arranging flowers, and loved playing the banjo. She and her husban enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, and the company of their family and friends. Donna loved life and enjoyed living it to the fullest.

In addition to her parents, Donna is survived by her husband, Andrew M. Gogal, whom she married on June 28, 1995 in Winchester, Virginia. Also surviving is her son, Joshua J. Shulik and his fiance, Jackie, of Waukegan, Illionois. A sister survives, Victoria Jackson and her husband John of Karns City, and a brother, Anthony J. Double and his wife Lori of Dilliner, PA. Three step-children survive, Matthew Gogal and his wife Elaine and their daughter Andrea of Middletown, Connecticut, Jessica Tison and her husband Joshua and their son Xavier of North Port, Florida, and Michael Gogal of Aiken, South Carolina. Two nephews survive, Eric Jackson, of Harrisburg, and Christian Twaddle and Caitlin and their sons Nathaniel and Alexander of Woodstock, MD, two nieces, Emily Double of Dilliner and Heidi Twaddle of Wheeling, WV. A number of aunts and uncles survive, Mxine and Leo Benson of Butler, Jo Ann and Larry Fleeger of Chicora, Janet and Wayne Cunningham of Saxonburg, Wayne and Judy Double of Karns City, and Joanne Double of Chicora. She is also survived by a number of cousins, with whom she was close. Two sisters-in-law survive, Dr. Helen M. Pilesi and her husband William of North Huntingdon, and Gemma Twaddle and her husband David of Glen Dale, WV. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Gladys Kolich, her paternal grandparents, Anthony and Mae Double, an uncle, Curtis Double, and her in-laws, Andrew and Gemma Gogal.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road in Chicora on Thursday from 1-4pm and 6-9pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora, with Rev. David D. DeWitt, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetary, Chicora.
