2010 Black Stallion Literacy Program Dates - Volunteers Needed!

Time is approaching for Little Black and Big Red to meet the children of Arkansas who have been reading about them!  This is a time for characters to really come to life!  Over 5500 first graders will be participating in events all over our state and we need your help!  Volunteer today and become involved in The Black Stallion Literacy Foundation here in Arkansas.

The dates for the 2nd touch for the Black Stallion Literacy Foundation for 2010 are as follows:

March 17th Hearts and Hooves in Sherwood

April 16th Hope Landing in El Dorado

April 20th in Jonesboro

April 29th and 30th in Springdale

May 3rd at Round Mountain Arabians in Big Flat

May 4th at Fort Smith

May 4th at Russellville at Equestrian Zone

May 5th at Little Rock at the Fairgrounds

May 7th at Runnin WJ in Texarkana

May 10th Batesville

May 10th Fort Smith

May 11th Searcy

May 13th Siloam Springs

We would like to encourage you to come to any of these events and participate!  We have needs for handlers of horses and children!  These children are learning about caring for a horse in a way that encourages reading.  Flash cards keep the focus on reading!  There will be various activities at each of these events but, the grand finale of each event will be when the children spend one on one time reading their very own Walter Farley book to a horse!  Please feel free to call or email to gain more information or to find out how you too can make a difference in the lives of Arkansas children!
