Egyptian Event
JUDGING SYSTEM
The EUROPEAN
SYSTEM will be used for all FUTURITY and WORLD CLASS
Halter classes, except for the Championship classes.
The NATIONAL TOTAL POINT JUDGING SYSTEM will be used for all
AMATEUR and JUNIOR TO HANDLE classes, as well as the
CHAMPIONSHIP Halter classes. |
The method for
entering the ring and pre-judging evaluation will be the same for
all halter classes with the following exception: In the
Finals for both Straight Yearling Futurity Fillies and Colts, the
horses will be brought in and shown individually (see specifics
below). |
Admission to the Ring - At
the discretion of Show Management, order of entry into the ring may
be predetermined for any class. In all Breeding/In-Hand/Halter
classes, a posted order will be produced listing the entries by
birth date, oldest to youngest, and all entries will enter in the
order posted.
All halter horses
should be brought in at the trot on a loose line to a pre-determined
point. Each handler will be allowed one attendee to help animate the
horse in a controlled manner. According to USEF rules no appendage
is allowed at the end of the whip (Reference Chapter III, GR320 USEF). Use
of small a piece of plastic held in hand or a “rattle” can or bottle
may be allowed. The Steward has the right to deem any accessory as
unsuitable if it affects the safety of those involved. Please use
extreme caution with horse and other exhibitors. All activity to
animate the horse MUST take place in the designated holding paddock.
NO activity including running of horse on any roadway will be
allowed. The paddock area is only for those horses
exhibiting/entering the class being called. No horse in other
classes will be allowed in the holding paddock. Only the horse
entering and the horse on deck will be allowed the use of the
attendee and accessory for excitement. All other horses are to
remain quiet and a safe distance from the entry gate. The purpose of
the above is to allow the expression of Arabian charisma in a
controlled environment. During this period, the judges will be
viewing the horses. After all horses have entered the ring in this
manner, the horses will be stood in a halter position along the rail
while the judges perform a pre-judging individual inspection of each
horse for the purpose of judging the level of excellence of the
class. The horses will then again be evaluated at the walk on a
loose lead along the rail by the judges. |
The ring steward
will then direct the horses to be walked around the arena and will
arbitrarily decide which horse is going to be judged first. At that
point the first and each succeeding horse will then be stood in a
halter position until the judges summon the horse to be brought to
them. The horse will be walked to the judges on a loose lead and
stood in a halter position again for judging. The judges will then
judge the horse. After the horses have been judged in the halter
position, the horse is to be trotted to the rail. Just before
getting to the rail, the horse will be turned to the left and will
be trotted down the rail. |
Presentation of
Straight Futurity Filly and Colt Finalists - All horses in each
class will be trotted into the arena (Please note specifics above).
When all are in, they will walk on a loose line, counter clockwise.
All horses are then excused to the ready area. Each horse, from
oldest to youngest, is then individually brought back in at a trot
to a specified area to be judged. The horse then walks to the center
ring for presentation and then trots away in a designated pattern.
The horse is then excused and the next horse brought in and
presented accordingly until the class is completed. |
For the Futurity
Classes as well as the World Class Halter classes, the judges will
judge the horse based on a comparison of each horse to the European
standard using the following criteria: |
TYPE, HEAD AND
NECK, BODY AND TOPLINE, LEGS and MOVEMENT. The multiplication
factors are as follows:
TYPE X 5
HEAD AND NECK X 4
BODY AND TOPLINE X 4
LEGS X 4
ARABIAN MOVEMENT X 4
The score for each
specification will be from 1 to 20, with 0.5 increments. |
In both the
Futurity Classes and the World Class Halter classes,
three judges will be used. In these classes, the horses will enter
the ring as previously described, and be judged using the
European System as outlined above. For the Futurity Final
Classes and World Class Halter classes, the judges’
evaluation will be announced after each horse is judged, and
placings will be made. For the Futurity Preliminary Classes, scores
are not shown. Ties will be broken by the total score given for
Type. Placings will be announced in the reverse order of finish. |
In the World
Class/Futurity Junior Championship classes (combined Futurity
and World Class), the three judges will use the National Total Point
Judging System to place the champion and reserve champion upon
judging the 1st and 2nd place winners from the yearling and two year
old classes. Scores will be tabulated. The Champion and Reserve
Champion will be announced in reverse order. |
In the World
Class/Futurity Senior Championship classes (combined Futurity
and World Class), the same procedure will be followed as for the
Junior Championship class. Horses competing will be the 1st and 2nd
place horses from the 3 year old and older halter classes. The
scores will be tabulated and the Senior Champion and Reserve Senior
Champion will be announced in reverse order. |
In the World
Class/Futurity Supreme Championship classes, three judges will
be used and the procedure will be the same as in the Junior and
Senior championship classes. Horses competing will be the 1st and
2nd place horses in the Junior and Senior Championship classes.
NOTE: Yearlings are not eligible to be shown in the Supreme
Championship Class. |
Egyptian
Event Supreme Champions cannot show in subsequent Event classes
which would make them eligible to compete for Supreme Champion. |

Judging System
Amateur Halter, Performance & Other |
In the Amateur
Halter and Junior to Handle Halter classes, the National Total
Point Judging System will be used by three judges. Judges will place
the Champion, Reserve Champion, and Top Ten. Scores will be
tabulated. The Champion, Reserve Champion, and Top Ten will be
announced in reverse order. |
Performance
Classes will be adjudicated by a single judge. The horse with
the highest total score will be named Champion, the horse with the
second-highest score will be named Reserve Champion, etc., until the
Top Five have been chosen. |
In the Get of
Sire, Produce of Dam, and Most Classic Head classes, three
judges will be used with a call judge. |
In the Egyptian
Breeders’ Challenge classes (ATH), three separate EBC judges
will be used. These judges will judge and rank the horses, using the
National Total Point Judging System. A Top Ten will be announced,
the Top Five to be placed, and then a Champion and Reserve Champion
will be announced in reverse order. The sire and dam of the EBC
yearlings will not be announced until after the horses are judged. |
