2008 Donation "The
Calling Mare" By
Lynn Maderich |
| |
Artist Lynn Maderich was a regular at the Arab
Nationals in the early and mid-eighties with her pastels, bronzes
and pen and ink/water colors. But “life happened” and she was forced
to leave the equine art field for many years.
Then, in the late 90's Lynn entered The Atelier Studio Program of
Fine Art in Minneapolis, a small art school whose instructors trace
an unbroken line from student to teacher directly back to Napoleon's
portraitist, Jacques-Louis David in eighteenth century France. There
Lynn spent four intense years learning the classic techniques of oil
painting she had craved.
After graduation Lynn found success in her paintings of still lives
and people, but that was not enough. She felt compelled to bring her
new painting skills together with her old love and knowledge of the
horse. It paid off. Her second equine painting, "Window Watcher",
was accepted into the American Academy of Equine Art juried fall
show where it was honored with The Kasper Foundation Equine Art
Award for "Best
Depiction of the Arabian Horse". Additional awards and ribbons have
followed and last spring, Lynn was the featured artist on the cover
of "Horses In Art" magazine.
Lynn is back, painting both original works and
commissioned portraits, and this fall will mark her return to the
Nationals. Lynn thanks The Pyramid Society for this opportunity to
reintroduce herself to members of the Arabian horse community.
