"Arabian horses
don't move-they dance," explained Australian artist Tara Brown in
2005, the year her artwork debuted at the Egyptian Event.
"They are poetic. I love their eloquence, their fire and
faithfulness, their devotion and intelligence. Their history
lends itself to many expressions. They are so versatile, and
they are the perfect breed for equine art. I have owned my purebred
gelding for 25 of his 26 years."
Brown remembers
that, as a child, she would draw only horses, even though her mother
tried to persuade the precocious child to try other subjects.
After doing a portrait of a friends purebred Arabian stallion, her
career took off.
"Drawing and painting Arabians has
taken me on a fabulous journey around the world," offers
Brown, who works in oils, pastels, watercolor, graphite and mixed
media. "I guess we choose the media we feel most comfortable
with and one that lends itself to our unique expressions."
"I have not been trained as an
artist, though presently I am doing my Bachelor of Arts in Art at
University in Perth, Western Australia. I have to accredit my
ability to paint to God. I have a passion to paint and a
passion for the Arabian horse. I believer there is always more
to learn, and in our journey, we grow and develop, not only our own
style, bur we gain the confidence to express ourselves with each
painting we do. We learn the technicalities along the way and
always strive for perfection!"
A previous contributor to the
Egyptian Event Art Auction, Brown was the high-selling artist one
year. She has had regular exhibits in Sydney, Melbourne and
Brisbane and places in between and has won numerous award in
Australian art competitions. She donated "In the Night," a
study of a mare calling to someone or something, to a previous
Egyptian Event Art Auction. The warm response the work
received was heartening to the artist. Brown has pieces in
collections in Australia, Brazil, Kuwait, Canada, Europe, New
Zealand and the United States.
