Tara Brown

"In the Night" Original Pastel - By Tara Brown
Auctioned live as part of the "60's Revisited" Dinner, Dance, & Art Auction
Proudly owned by Hank and Sandra DeShazer, DeShazer Arabians, Cypress, Texas

Tara has been a horse lover from the moment she saw her first as a little girl. In recalling the first Arabian she knew, she remembers a beautiful gray gelding that she bonded with closely while working at riding stables in Sydney, Australia on the weekends and during school holidays as a teenager. In fact, this horse would do anything under saddle for Tara, yet for other riders would be so difficult just to move forward, a typical indication of the bonding & faithfulness of the Arabian breed.  Tara worked with horses professionally as a young lady, in a huge variety of roles.

As she grew up, marriage & motherhood changed her lifestyle & although she kept her purebred Arabian stallion who was a gift to her, the life she had known, dedicated to working with horses seemed to fade in the distance.

Tara is now, & has been for the past 3 years, a professional equine artist. With exhibitions across Australian states, including 5 regular exhibitions in Sydney each year, Tara's work is definitely in demand.

A multi-international award winning equine artist. Tara won the '2003 Equitana Asia-Pacific Art Award, an internationally contested prize, as well as the 2004 Sydney Horse Festival's Equine Art Prize's hotly contested 'People's Choice Award' these & other awards cement Tara's place as a respected equine artist. Tara has artwork in private collections throughout the world & has no shortage of commissioned work.

"When I was painting the gray mare for the 2004 Egyptian Event's Art Auction, I was thinking of the friendship we have with our Arabian horses -- the trust they give us, the companionship, & the faithful friendships we have with these magnificent steeds. I wanted to portray the other traits of the beautiful, courageous, and spirited Arabian horse."
